Ramathra Fort opened its first season in October 2007 – March 2008 with six luxury tents. The accommodation, service, cuisine and activities set against the fort’s natural environs have been highly appreciated by guests. Guest accommodations include 6 Suites and 6 Luxury Tents.
1. Suites
Category One –
Each suite features its own bedroom, an elegant sitting area with a fireplace, a King-size bed with luxury linens, custom furnishings and hand-woven rugs. A private terrace provides a grand view of the landscape and its magnificent sunsets. The use of Karauli stone and traditional construction practices bestows an authentic and sophisticated ethnicity to these new spaces.
Category Two –
These rooms are similar to the suites above but without a private terrace. Instead, they open out onto an open courtyard. These rooms can also serve as two connecting rooms for use by a family of four or a group of friends.
2. Luxury Tents - six beautifully designed luxury tents set against the fort's rampart walls surrounding a lush courtyard lawn. With its high ceilings and screened windows, each spacious interior is decorated with modern teak furniture, printed cotton furnishings and traditional flat woven rugs. The sleeping chamber has comfortable beds and night tables with reading lamps. The sitting room with its cushioned chairs, coffee table and writing desk provides ample room to enjoy morning tea or to spread out a map and plan the day's adventure. Absent are televisions and electronic entertainment. A private and spacious bathhouse built of stone and mortar is attached to every tent. Amenities include hot water, flush toilets, tiled showers and a dressing area. The bathhouse is also a place where you can lock-up valuables while you are out for the day. Like a bungalow, each tent has its own private porch furnished with a couple of chairs and a table. Each porch is protected by the rampart wall and is a great place to relax with friends or to simply enjoy some peace and quiet.
The dining room is the main gathering place for eating, drinking and socializing. What were once stables for horses is now a totally renovated commons area for Ramathra Fort . Comfortable seating in a rustic open space set the stage for a good time. The bar is well stocked with bottled water, soft drinks, cold beer, wine and liquor. The food at Ramathra is special! Menus favor delicious regional fare prepared carefully in the family kitchen using farm-fresh seasonal produce. Guests enjoy authentic local flavors created by traditional cooking methods. Meals typically include whole grain breads such as wheat, millet and barley, fresh yogurt salads, sumptuous curries of meat, poultry and legumes, delicious vegetable dishes and fresh homemade desserts. Meticulous hygienic conditions are maintained to protect the well being of all guests. And if you have a special dietary concern, the cook is very accommodating!
